The mission of the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation is to attract and retain business and residents. Cherokee County boasts a strong diversity of businesses and a quality of life that positions the area as a Northwest Iowa economic hub. Cherokee is home to a Tyson Foods and Hy-Vee Distribution operation, as well as exciting new companies such as American Natural Soy.
The wind energy industry is thriving in the Cherokee County area with nearly 500 turbines either planned, or in operation in the area. Western Iowa Technical College provides customized training to support the alternative energy industry and other area industries.
