Northwest Iowa Development is a six county economic development partnership that borders the states of Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota. The six Iowa partner counties are Cherokee, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth and Sioux. The region boasts a population of over 102,000. The area offers access to an excellent 4 lane highway transportation network. The 4 lane Highway 60-75 Expressway and Highway 20 bisect the region and provide connectivity to Interstates 29, 90, 80 and 35, an east-west-north-south strategically located economic region.
In addition, Northwest Iowa is rich with wind energy resources with the highest wind speed capacity in the entire state of Iowa. The region is home to well known company operations such as Staples, Tyson, Novartis, Wells, and Diamond Vogel.
