Wheelabrator Group
1606 Executive Dr. LaGrange, GA 30240
Wheelabrator designs and manufactures a full range of wheel-type shot blast machines, mass finishing equipment dedicated to the demands of the industry, and automated airblast solutions. Wheelabrator Plus professionals will inspect your current blasting equipment and conduct a thorough assessment.
Surface preparation is a critical process for clean energy applications, whether the focus is on metal fabrication, assembling wind towers or on the metal components. Given the harsh field conditions, metal components used in manufacturing wind towers require a surface preparation process prior to assembly. Mechanical pre-treatment of steel can be carried out using centrifugal blast wheels or using blast nozzles.
Wheelabrator Plate and Structural Steel systems meet the needs of
Wind Tower manufacturers

Wheelabrator® plate systems are fully-automated and designed to descale and remove rust from plate. The Wheelabrator horizontal shot blast plate machine models have been specially developed to meet the needs of various industries, including the Wind Power sector. The machine effectively pre-cleans large plates for wind tower sections and components, eliminating the high labor costs associated with manual air blasting.
Wheelabrator plate machines are available for plate sizes up to 15-feet wide and can easily be integrated into Wheelabrator Preservation Lines for automatic painting. Depending on customers’ needs, there are three models to choose from and each comes equipped with a pass height range of 20-inches to 48-inches with custom heights available on request. The plate machines come with EZEFIT® blast wheels that have a history of outstanding performance and reliability while increasing productivity and reducing maintenance.
The plate system blast compartments are constructed of manganese steel and equipped with replaceable cast ship lapped Long-Lyfe® liners in line designed for a heavy-duty continuous operation using steel shot media. Roll conveyors are available to meet varying part load and length requirements for individual customers. A combination of brush and blow-off options also contributes to the ease of automatic operations. The low profile system provides a reduced overall height, allowing for installation in facilities with limited height requirements. This enables routine maintenance and inspection actions to be performed near floor level; a convenient and efficient solution for any plant site.
